This article is designed to assist users who've attempted to upload a PDF file to Dash that has encryption enabled. Encrypted PDF files cannot be uploaded to Dash if the file is encrypted. If a specific occasion has arisen where an encrypted PDF is required, please discuss this with the organisation you're submitting an application to, and follow up with support@dashapp.com.au if it is necessary.
Check if your document is encrypted
Verifying your PDF's encryption status is a good first step.
Open your PDF in a PDF viewing application like Adobe Acrobat. Go to the Menu and select Document Properties. This should open a window where you can switch to the Security tab, and check if a "Security Method" is enabled. If so, it'll look like the below image.
If the file you have open isn't encrypted, it could be one of your other files causing an encryption alert message in Dash.
Removing encryption from PDF files
To remove an encryption you can recreate the PDF. To do this, print the PDF document through your PDF editor or other application, and instead of printing to a device, save it as a new file (using a different name).
This new document should be unencrypted, so you can now upload it to Dash.
If you have any trouble after attempting to remove the encryption, please contact Dash Support (support@dashapp.com.au)
